appraisal board or appraiser board (AmE) A state agency that oversees the licensing and regulating of real estate appraisers in compliance with federal guidelines. The board assesses appraisal license holders to ensure that they have adequate education and experience and have demonstrated that they are sufficiently competent to provide a quality service in accordance with their specific credentials.
